Soprano Renee Fleming sings “I can smell the sea air” from Andre Previn’s operatic recreation of Tennesse William’s A Streetcar Named Desire
I really loved Fleming in this role. She made Blanche so believable and so psychotic. The part in the middle when she describes her husband’s suicide is downright chilling. The scene in this clip is at the very end of the show when Blanche is about to leave for the insane asylum.
